Diana from Calgary, AB CA stayed on February 15, 2004
"Only used the restaurant for one breakfast. The buffet was still out, but after we helped ourselves the server came and told us the food was stale and would not let us eat it. Where was the server to seat us and explain in advance? And why did they not place a sign out saying the buffet was closed. They had to tell several others after us the same thing.
So we ordered from the A La Carte Menu. It took forever for the food to arrive. When it came, my French Toast did not resemble anything described on the Menu. While I was offered a replacement meal, after waiting a half hour to get what I received, I wasn't interested in wasting more time. They took the cost of my food off the bill without my having to ask - that was what redeemed them in our eyes. However the Radisson is supposed to be a step up from a Holiday Inn or Best Western - they've got a ways to go to break even.
The pool is advertised as one of the largest in Canmore. If this is true then everyone has puddles advertised as a pool. And I chose this hotel over another two bedroom condo which would have cost a minor $20 more per night and given the 3 of us a lot more space. The reason I chose the single room was for the pool and hot tub - supposedly attached. Well the access to this facility is outdoors - really stupid when half the year has temperatures below zero. And they don't have a change room - just two toilets & a shower.
The hot tub did not work properly. The jets never came on anywhere near what is needed for a decent experience. The adjustments were all broken and there was no staff to question about it.
The exercise equipment consisted of two tread mills, two bikes and a small rack of weights with a plain bench. One bike did not work. One treadmill did not work. How many hundred people can stay at this place? Whatever, the ratio of guests to equipment (let alone working equipment) is ridiculously huge. Of course, the only place I've stayed with what could be identified as a "real fitness facility" is the Clarion in Victoria, BC. Everyone else is just kidding themselves.
So the only reason I rate this place as average is because they fail just like all the others. And I won't recommend it to anyone else except as a last resort. If I had booked earlier I wouldn't have found myself there in the first place. Now I know why they still had rooms available when the others had none."
Recommends the hotel
