"We read the posted reviews before we booked and I was most interested in the Barbie Doll who wrote in to complain about the hotel. I have to agree TOTALLY with the more positive reviews. We have stayed in places all over Europe and Australia and this was among the best. Yes, you are in the middle of a jungle. Get over it. It was beautiful. We arrived by rental car with plenty of bottled water. The rooms were spacious, the views spectacular, great porches with chairs, and the pool an absolute paradise (other than the fact that it was very cool evening and cold in the water - but that is no fault of the hotel). We traveled with our two teenagers and both thought it was pretty neat. Went to the laser/light show at the ruins in the evening. Only complaint was the headphones (needed if you don't speak Spanish) were not very good so it was hard to hear the story of the ruins. That part only gets a C in my book. We went back the next morning for an 8am tour before all the tour buses from Cancun arrived and that was absolutely wonderful. The highlight of the trip. The walk to the ruins from the hotel is all of but 2-3 blocks, well lit and nice sidewalks/paths. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. One more point: if you are driving from Cancun, take the local road at least one direction (about 4 hours, as opposed to 2 hours on the toll road). The experience is well worth the time."
