"I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were very helpful, courteous, friendly. The hotel is typical of many of the 2-star variety I've used in Spain - simple, unpretentious, but well kept and comfortable. Although I wasn't in Almeria for shopping or sight-seeing, I noticed that the hotel was a very short walk to the central market and main business streets with lots of shops and restaurants, and was about a 15 minute walk from the waterfront. I think it's a good distance from the Alcazar, but have no doubt the staff would be very helpful in getting you there. It is tucked away in the tiny Plaza de la Carmen which is both a plus and a minus. On the plus side its location is quiet and even a little charming; on the negative, if you don't know the city, it can be hard to find, particularly if you are driving and don't know the streets. Parking? An area in front of the hotel reserved for guests, but I recommend parking in the "Rambla" public parking lot on Avenida F.Garcia Lorca, the main thoroughfare in from the N-340; a little over 10E for 24hour period, and a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
All in all, for the price I paid, and considering the poor exchange rate of the dollar these days (summer 04), I would highly recommend La Perla for budget-conscious travelers who want a simple, clean, comfortable place to spend the night."

Hotel La Perla 
Pleasant hotel in downtown Almeria. Welcoming hotel in Plaza del Carmen, in Almeria city centre, right at the intersection between the main thoroughfares in town: Obispo Orberá and Paseo de Almería. It is surrounded by a slew of shops, restaurants and leisure centres. It is the oldest hotel in the city that has been recently renovated to offer guests the best facilities. Intermodal train and bus station is at just one kilometre, and the airport is at ten kilometres. There are bus and taxi stops nearby. The 60 rooms are functionally and pleasantly decorated in warm colours and are equipped with all the comforts. The hotel also has a restaurant that serves the typical delights of Almeria´s Alpujarra.
