"I paid almost three months in advance for a two night stay at the Mckinley Chalet Resort. When I arrived at the resortI was told they were overbooked and they moved me to their sister hotel, The Mckinley Village Lodge. I will not do business with this CHAIN again. I was not notified of the hotel being overbooked and I felt I was tricked into staying at the other hotel. In addition I paid THREE MONTHS in advance - THIS IS NO WAY TO DO BUSINESS. AVOID THIS CHAIN AT ALL COST. We stayed 10 days in Alaska in various cities. The Mckinley was the ONLY resort that required full payment in advance and the Mckinley was the only resort we had a problem with - GO FIGURE.
I suggest staying at the Denali Princess Lodge - it appeared to be a great Lodge. In addition, I stopped by to inquired about my reservation at the Fairbanks Princess Lodge. The Denali Princess Lodge was helpful even though the staff was busy AND I did not have a reservation. In addition, it was the only hotel I did not have to pay in advance and provided execellent service."

"I was happy that I had printed out my confirmation information as I had booked and paid for 5 nites. when I checked in they had me down for only 4 nites. Without the confirmation information I fear that I would have had a big problem. The first clerk at the registration desk the night we checked in said that they were full for the last nite of our stay indicating it would be a problem. I spoke to the manager the next day and it was clear that I had paid for 5 nites.
The food was outrageously expensive. Continental breakfast was $10 per person--this was for bread, cereal, juice! I recommend bringing some your own food however there are not refrigerators in the room.
The "Cabin Nite" show was fun. River rafting was also fun. There was ample transportation via shuttles around the area.
The lobby can get quite crowded with the Holland America tours--it is too bad they didn't make it a bit bigger with some additional seating!
The gift shop is nice--I would like to see the addition of some more foodstuffs such as cereal, fruit, yogurt."
