"For some reason, we were placed in a handicap room--not a problem and it was ground level which was convenient. Coffee pot and small fridge were handy for families I'm sure. We stayed only two nights so did not complain about broken hand-held shower arm---had to be held while showering as the piece to fasten it to wall bracket was missing. However, this was obvious to maid service, so I assume the hotel had no intention of repairing it. Though the room appeared clean, of more concern to me were two tiny "bugs" on the edge of my pillow (appeared to be mating) and a crawing bug (?flea?) on the sheet. It made me squeamish and I woke up often during the night to check my bed. We travel by road often and in general, I think that the average $70+ being charged by mainstream motels is too high for mostly poorly maintained rooms. If available, new motels are the best choice--after a couple or more years, housekeeping / maintenance suffer. Apparently the breakfasts offered have run up the price. I would rather provide my own breakfast and have motels provide us a "very clean" maintained room and bath area, comfortable mattress and pillows, clean, well-fitting sheets that don't pop off, an extra pillow and blanket in the room, and good working plumbing as well as adequate television programming. Not a lot of choices in Gaffney, SC, so I'm sure our Comfort Inn was as good as any of the others."
